John Joseph Fisanich, Jr., 86, of Indiana, passed away Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late John J. and Mary (Chervanok) Fisanich, he was born March 19, 1938, in Spangler.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. He received an associate’s degree in accounting and retired as an accountant from RobertShaw Controls. John was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, where he was a head usher. He was a member of the VFW 1989 and the American Legion and was a long-time member of the B.P.O.E. 931. John enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
He is survived by three children: Anita Foster, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Lori Gerhard and husband Joel, of Traverse City, MI; and John Fisanich and wife Lisa, of Indiana; three sisters: his twin, Joan Long, of Ebensburg; Maryann Flute, of Harrisburg; and Diane Leventry, of Iowa City, IA; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dolores J. Fisanich; and a sister, Dorothy Smychynsky.
Friends and family will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 200 Clairvaux Drive, Indiana. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Military services will be provided by the Blairsville Military Honor Guard. Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
