A status conference is scheduled today for a suspect in the killing of Hayden Gareffa in 2022.
Court documents show Thomas Rivera of Johnstown will go before President Judge Thomas Bianco today. He faces charges of criminal homicide, kidnapping to facilitate a felony, kidnapping to incite terror, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to each of those crimes. He along with six other adults and a juvenile allegedly lured him out of his grandmother’s home, abducted him and stabbed him multiple times before leaving him in the tall grass off Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
One other defendant, Taylyn Edwards, has pleaded guilty but mentally ill to charges of her own in the case and is currently serving time in prison.
