PASSHE Interim Chancellor Dr. Chris Fiorentino is scheduled to address the General Assembly later this month, urging them to increase state funding and freeze tuition rates for an eighth consecutive year.
Fiorentino is set to speak before the Senate and House Appropriations Committees today and Thursday, respectively, thanking both parties for supporting increased investment in the State System of Higher Education over the last few years.
In a news release, Fiorentino said increases in funding have allowed PASSHE to keep tuition the same since 2018, and he emphasized how critical affordable education was to students and families, especially when tuition goes unchanged.
PASSHE requested $40.3 million in additional funding this year, which is an increase of 6.5 percent.
