Michael Matthew Stipcak, 90, of Palmertown, PA passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.
The son of Martin and Anna (Kubik) Stipcak, he was born September 25, 1934, in Black Lick, PA.
Mr. Stipcak was the first person hired to work in the Tunnelton Mine in 1964 and retired in 1994.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral and the UMWA Local # 1378.
Mr. Stipcak enjoyed boating, shooting pool, bowling, and attending antique car shows where he proudly showed his antique car. He was very active in baseball in his younger years, and he faithfully followed all Blairsville sports teams as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
Surviving are his four sons, Lenny Stipcak (Teri) of Port St. Lucie, FL., Rick Stipcak (Rita) of Blairsville, Kenny Stipcak (Leslie) of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, and Roger Stipcak (Sondra) of Williamsport; nine grandchildren, Deanne Porterfield, Tyler Stipcak, Victoria Stipcak, Rychele Stipcak, Alyssa Guthrie, K.C. Stipcak, Emily Stipcak, Justin Stipcak, and Austin Stipcak; a great grandson, Billy Wayne Guthrie; his sister, Helen Tomko of Blairsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Velma “Ruth” (Orr) Stipcak on February 18, 2017, three grandchildren, Bryan, Ryan and Eric Stipcak, and 13 siblings.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 555 First St., Coral, PA 15731 with Rev. John A. Pavlik, OFM, Cap.
Interment will be in SS Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville PA.
