State police released more information on a fatal crash yesterday near Shelocta.
Police say the crash happened at 11:20 AM on Route 422 West between Trim Tree and Cheese Run Roads. 67-year-old Jeffrey Adams of West Lebanon was stopped in the westbound lane waiting to make a left turn into a driveway at 7425 Route 422 West when a pickup truck driven by 62-year-old Guy Toy of Indiana rear-ended Adams’ pickup. Adams’ truck spun and came to rest facing southwest, while Toy’s truck was disabled and came to rest facing West off the northern berm.
Toy was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner John Steigert. Adams was not hurt in the crash. The cause of the crash was not released by police, but troopers on scene said speed may have been a factor in the crash. Route 422 between Cheese Run Road and Parkwood Road was closed for several hours while the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.
