The Steelers have not yet signed a quarterback but they have made a deal for a top flight receiver for him to throw to. General Manager Omar Khan yesterday traded a second round draft choice to Seattle for wide receiver DK Metcalf, and ESPN reports that the Steelers have agreed to a five-year $150 million contract with the two-time Pro Bowl pass-catcher.
The deal also includes a swap of the Steelers’ sixth round draft choice this year for the Seahawks’ seventh round pick.
Metcalf caught 66 passes for 992 yards and five touchdowns last season, missing two games with a knee injury. He’s topped 1,000 yards receiving in three of his six NFL seasons.
The NFL’s “legal tampering period” begins today at noon. Free agents can negotiate with other teams but cannot sign until Wednesday.
The Bills have signed quarterback Josh Allen to a record setting 6-year $330 million deal. The Browns have signed defensive end Myles Garrett to a four-year $123 million contract that is a record for non-quarterbacks.
