The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has issued new recommendations for poultry farmers to combat the recent surge of avian influenza.
The department recommends heightened biosecurity focusing on preventing contact with wild birds and dairy cattle and maintaining poultry indoors during the heightened risk. HPAI started affecting wild birds in the U.S. back in 2022, and so far, no cases were reported in Indiana County or in Pennsylvania.
Across the nation, 17 new cases were reported across four states in the last 30 days.
