State police have identified the driver of a Greensburg-Salem school van, who died Friday morning in a crash near the intersections of Routes 22 and 819 in Salem Township, Westmoreland County.
Troopers from the Kiski Valley barracks say 60-year-old Rene Davis of Greensburg died after she was involved in a three-vehicle accident around 7:10 a.m. The crash occurred after a Mack Truck driven by Isaac Stemple of Buckhannon, West Virginia, allegedly ran through a stop light, hitting Davis’s van on the driver’s side door. The third car, driven by a 17-year-old girl from Export, hit the truck while travelling in the northbound lane.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. The girl, who was not named in reports, suffered a minor injury and was taken to a hospital by Mutual Aid EMS. Stemple was not hurt.
Charges are pending further investigation. Traffic along 22 was tied up for nearly five hours on Friday.
