Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of 9th and Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough.
The crash happened around 9:21 a.m. when a man and a woman tried crossing the intersection but they were hit by a commercial business truck. It’s not known if they had the walk signal when they tried to cross.
Ron Moreau of the Indiana Fire Association said both pedestrians were alert at the time. One had to be flown to a hospital and the other was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment. Bystanders provided CPR until emergency crews arrived and he said incidents like this are why people should get certified.
Assisting firefighters were Citizens’ Ambulance, Indiana Borough Police, Indiana County Sheriff’s Deputies, and state police. Troopers stayed on-scene to investigate. An official crash report has not been released yet.
