Two people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of 9th and Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough, and Renda Media can now confirm that one of those people died as a result of injuries.
Although names are not yet being released, the male victim died at IRMC while being prepared to be life flighted.
The female victim was life flighted to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown, although her condition is unknown at this time.
According to Eric Slovinsky, Operations Lieutenant at the Indiana Borough Police Department, at 9:18 am, a delivery box truck owned by APG Supply and Contracting of Connellsville was making a left turn (eastbound) from North 9th Street into the 800 block of Philadelphia Street, struck the two unidentified pedestrians while they were attempting to cross Philadelphia Street. They were reportedly crossing to get to the Indiana County Courthouse.
Indiana Borough Police are conducting an ongoing investigation with the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police.
