Pennsylvania homeowners will have a chance to fight invasive species of plants that may be growing on their property.
Non-native trees and shrubs, like callery pear, tree-of-heaven, and Japanese barberry, can harm local ecosystems and economies. To combat this, Pennsylvania has launched the Invasive Replace-ive Program. This initiative allows homeowners to remove invasive species from their properties and replace them with native trees, reducing the spread of these plants into nearby parks and forests.
Property owners can receive up to five free native trees by removing one or more invasive species. However, the plant replacement program is at capacity for the moment.
