The Pirates’ offense collected 13 hits in a 15-5 route of the Orioles Saturday in Grapefruit League baseball.
Oneil Cruz, Jack Suwinski, Nick Gonzalez, and Ji Hwan Bae each had two hits and Henry Davis hit an 8th inning grand slam to lead the hit parade. Carmen Mlodzinski started and threw three innings, guiving up a run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts. David Bednar struggled again in his two-thirds of an inning, giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits.
Ke’Bryan Hayes returned to action for the first time in ten days after dealing with left side stiffness. he hit leadoff and was 0-for-1 with two walks.
Right-hander Carson Fulmer, who is on the Indianapolis Indians’ roster, will start for the Pirates today against the Yankees.
