Arthur “Butch” James Lockard, Sr., 76, of Saltsburg, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Indiana.
A son of the late Alfred M. and Helen M. (Johns) Lockard, he was born Aug. 7, 1948, in White Station.
In 1985, Butch followed his calling into the ministry, where he served his Lord and pastored his congregation for 40 years. Following his retirement, he and his wife became members of Aultman Baptist Church. He loved to spoil his wife and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Butch also enjoyed caring for his fish, Fleury.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy M. (Sell) Lockard, of Saltsburg; five children: Arthur “Butchie” and wife Rhonda Lockard, Jr., of Gulf Port, MS; Marcella Stepnick and husband Thomas, Sr., of Milton, FL; Timothy “Mike” M. Lockard and wife Kelly, of Clarksburg; Rebecca Ingmire and husband, Robert, of Blairsville; Valerie McClurg and husband Jon, of Lucernemines; three siblings: Evelyn Conner, of Washington; Cherly Lockard, of Claysville; Duane Lockard, of Claysville; 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Merle Johns and Floyd Lockard.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, with Dr. Arthur Lockard, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Twin Valley Cemetery.
