State Senator Joe Pittman has announced that a $326,000 public infrastructure grant will go to Derry Borough for the Derry Business Park Garland Mills Culvert Replacement project.
The replacement of the underground conduit system is being seen as a project that is crucial to the safety of the area but also support future growth and economic opportunities in the area. The project, which costs $369,600, will consist of replacing the pipes and asphalt, along with implementing erosion control measures and raising the site grade above flood elevations. The property sits in the Conemaugh River Watershed area, and it was determined to have recurring flood problems.
Senator Pittman said in a joint statement with state representative Leslie Rossi that the replacements will continue to protect nearby residents, guarantee the long-term stability of the area and in turn, help expand local economic development.
