Today’s unseasonably pleasant weather may make conditions ripe for brush fires in the county.
The county has so far seen 32 brush fires this year, including one reported yesterday on Route 22 East in East Wheatfield Township at 7:36 PM that brought the Armagh Fire Department out. Temperatures are expected to be into the mid-70’s to low 80’s today, but humidity levels are low and dry brush is still prevalent. A small spark could set off a large fire if it hits a patch of dry ground.
Portions of Southwestern Pennsylvania are under an elevated fire threat, but Indiana County was not included in that list.
