The Steelers yesterday signed Esezi Otomewo to a one-year deal, making him the third defensive lineman they have signed this week. He’s played for the Vikings and Jaguars since being drafted by Minnesota in the fifth round in 2022. He played four games for the Jags last season.
Quarterback Jalen Milroe threw and ran for the scouts and coaches attending Alabama’s Pro Day. He ran a 4.37 40-yard dash and didn’t appear to be pushing himself, and he threw all the passes as Mike Tomlin and the Steelers joined the throng of observers on the sidelines.
Milroe said he has always admired Tomlin and likes the style of play in the rugged AFC North.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. said yesterday that if the Steelers don’t sign Aaron Rodgers, they could take a quarterback in the first round, perhaps Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss or Louisville’s Tyler Shough. Milroe is considered to be a second or third round prospect.
