Thursday night, the Homer-Center School Board approved a resolution that denounces the misuse of taxpayer money in the funding of Pennsylvania Cyber Charter Schools.
Last month, Pennsylvania’s Auditor General Timothy DeFoor said that over a three-year time, five cyber charter schools legally increased their revenue by $425 million and increased revenues by 144%, saying the current funding formula was unfair. The opinion was shared by district Superintendent Ralph Cecere, who said he had no problems with school choice, but the funding does need to change.
Along with the resolution, the board authorized actions to urge legislative reform on the matter.
The board also approved the installation of a peace pole by the flagpole in front of the high school. The pole will be installed by members of the district’s Interact club.
