Some upgrades are going on to Penelec’s power lines and systems, and to facilitate the projects, some planned power outages will take place.
One outage that is going on today will go until 2:00 PM for 14 customers in the Cherryhill Township area, as crews are repairing a utility pole on Wissinger Road near Airport Road.
An outage that was scheduled for the Lucernemines area until 3:00 this afternoon was called off as Penelec crews are still dealing with damage related to last Sunday’s storms. The outage was rescheduled from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM on March 28th. Crews will put a new utility pole in place in the area.
An outage is set for Monday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for 12 customers in the areas of Neal Road and Cherry Run Road in Homer City.
Those in the affected areas are reminded that if you are using a backup generator to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Also, keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible to keep food cold. They also advise to turn off or unplug any sensitive electronics like DVD players, TVs and Computers to ease the load on the circuits when power is restored, but they do recommend leaving an incandescent light on to let you know when power is restored.
