State police were already planning to be in Indiana for the IUPatty’s event on Saturday. Now they have another reason to be in the area, with more troopers on patrol for the planned implosion of the smokestacks at the former Homer City Generating Station.
Police anticipate increased traffic from curious onlookers traveling to Center Township and Homer City, so additional personnel have been assigned specifically to those areas, and will provide traffic control on Route 119 as needed. They ask motorists to follow the rules of the road, respect private property, and not block roadways.
As of now, they do not plan to close any public roads and are asking for the public’s cooperation.
