The Pirates were no-hit by the Orioles in a 4-0 spring training loss. Paul Skenes threw three-and-a third innings of one-hit shutout ball in his tuneup for Thursday’s season opener in Miami.
After the game, the Pirates optioned Henry Davis, Billy Cook, and Nick Yorke to Indianapolis and designated Joshua Palacios for assignment. They added pitcher Hunter Stratton to the major league roster.
The Pirates visit the Blue Jays today in Dunedin, with Bailey Falter making his final spring training start for the Bucs. The team also announced that Thomas Harrington will replace Andrew Heaney as the starter for the final spring training game tomorrow in Fort Myers against the Twins. That could be an indication that Harrington, the number three-rated prospect in the Pirates’ system, will make the opening day roster and could join the rotation, replacing the injured Jared Jones, who appears headed to the injured list with pain in his elbow.
