Two days after the transfer portal opened up, Pitt basketball coach Jeff Capel finds his roster torn apart, with yesterday’s decision by the Diaz Graham twins to leave Pitt. Seven-foot tall Guillermo and 6-11 Jorge Diaz Graham were key members of the team and have one year of eligibility left. After just one season at Pitt, freshman Amsal Delalic is also leaving, as is seldom-used forward Marlon Barnes.
Capel is also losing Ish Leggett, Zack Austin, and Damian Dunn to graduation.
ST. FRANCIS
With yesterday’s surprise announcement that St. Francis will drop from Division One to Division Three, the basketball program lost its fifth player in two days when junior guard Wisler Sanon II entered the transfer portal.
St. Francis cited a variety of factors for the decision to go D3. In a statement by the Very Reverend Joseph Lehman, the school noted the “complicated” governance of college athletics, such as “…the transfer portal, pay-for-play, and other shifts that move athletics away from love of the game.” In D3, St, Francis will join the Presidents Athletic Conference starting July 1st, 2026.
