With almost all of his team entering the transfer portal, St. Francis men’s coach Rob Krimmel has announced his retirement, three days after the school announced that it would drop from Division One to Division three. Krimmel has been at St. Francis for 29 years, first as a player, then as an assistant coach, and for the last thirteen years as head coach, compiling 171 wins and an appearance this season in the NCAA Tournament.
The Red Flash has named Luke McConnell, the son of former St Francis men’s and IUP women’s coach Tom McConnell, as Krimmel’s replacement. Tom McConnell coached the St. Francis men from 1992 to 1999 and ranks third all-time in wins for the Red Flash with 85 victories. Luke McConnell graduated from St. Francis in 2012 after being a four-year letterwinner for the Red Flash football team.
