Last Thursday, the River Valley School District hosted educators at the high school and collegiate level along with industry leaders as part of the League of Innovative Schools Spring 2025 convening.
The district’s STEAM academy in Saltsburg was one of the host sites for the region as schools from across the nation took part in discussions on strengthening alignment between K-12 education and workforce readiness. Along with county government, officials from IUP, Saint Francis and Point Park University, Pitt and the Pennsylvania College of Technology along with representatives from CVS, REA Energy, DiVerse industrial solutions, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Pennsylvania and Westinghouse were on hand for discussions on how to move education forward into the future.
Superintendent Philip Martel said in a statement that hosting the event shows the district’ s interest and dedication to educational innovation, and the conference was a good way to show what could be possible when education and industry come together.
