Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said a recent DUI conviction was possible thanks to a concerned citizen calling a tip in to police.
38-year old Frederick Kime of Arcadia was found guilty of driving under the influence of a controlled substance yesterday in Indiana County Court. On June 5th, Kime was seen by a passerby ingesting drugs while in his car in the parking lot of the Walmart on Oakland Avenue. State police were notified and when they arrived, they found he drove to the McDonalds in the same plaza. The vehicle was pulled over, and Kime was placed under arrest after he failed field sobriety tests. A legal blood draw determined that he had meth and amphetamines in his system at the time.
Manzi said that the citizen did the right thing in calling police. He said that “Due to their willingness to speak up, this turned into a simple traffic stop and not a deadly crash. “
