Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro says he is pleased to see things moving forward with a natural gas-fueled power plant going into Center Township.
On Wednesday, the Governor was in Northampton County for another event supporting small businesses through the Main Street Matters program when he made his comments. Shapiro said that his administration was working with people in Homer City and was excited to see the project move forward as he wants to see Pennsylvania maintain its status as a top energy exporter.
Audio PlayerOne part of the proposed Homer City facility is the ability to power AI data centers, and he doesn’t want to see Pennsylvania beat by China or other countries when it comes to producing power for the facilities without increasing costs for consumers.
Audio PlayerAs to specifics on the plant, he said that he still had more questions and the state would still need to receive, in his words, “a lot of permits” for the project.
