While spring is here, flu is still prevalent in Pennsylvania.
The PA Department of Health reports that flu trends are still above the baseline for the time of year, but the rate of activity is decreasing. As of March 29, 217,994 lab-confirmed cases of flu were reported in Pennsylvania along with 896 flu-related deaths. The percentage of emergency department visits across Pennsylvania resulting in an influenza diagnosis is decreasing across all age groups, and new hospital admissions for flu were decreasing for adult and is now low for pediatric patients. Indiana County is reporting 702 flu cases for the season so far.
Allegheny County reported 20,332 cases, marking the highest county-wide total in the state. Montgomery County is second with close to half that total at 11,355.
As far as RSV goes, 45,464 lab confirmed cases were reported in Pennsylvania. 125 of those are in Indiana County.
