The Penguins take the ice at PPG Paints Arena tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks, the team that eliminated them from the postseason chase on Sunday.
With four games left, the Pens are currently in position to get a top ten draft choice in this year’s NHL Draft, so they have to walk the fine line between trying to win and getting the highest possible slot in the draft. They will also be watching the New York Rangers, who are in danger of missing the playoffs. The Rangers’ top draft pick was traded to Vancouver, which then swapped it to Pittsburgh in the Marcus Petterson deal at the trade deadline. The Rangers must decide whether to protect that pick or let Pittsburgh have it. If they keep it, the Pens get New York’s number one next year, unprotected.
The pregame begins at 6, with faceoff shortly after 7 tonight on 92.5 FM U92.
Former Penguins star goaltender Greg Millen passed away yesterday at the age of 67. He also played for Hartford, St. Louis, Quebec, Chicago, and Detroit over 14 seasons, and was an analyst for Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC and Sportsnet after his retirement.
