The flu season continues in Pennsylvania, and cases are still being reported across the state.
The state Department of Health says that while influenza activity is still above the baseline for this time of year, it continues to decrease. 222,588 lab-confirmed cases of the illness have been reported since September 29th of last year. Over the last week, another 4,594 cases were reported. Another 30 flu-related deaths were reported in the state, bringing the total to 926 for the season. The percentage of emergency room visits resulting in an influenza diagnosis continues to go down across all age groups, and new hospital admissions for flu were decreasing for adults and on the low end for pediatric patients.
Indiana county’s flu case count went up by eight to 710 for the season.
For RSV, activity is above baseline for older adults, but it continues to decrease as well. An increase of 608 cases were reported last week, resulting in 46,072 lab-confirmed cases in Pennsylvania. Six more cases were reported in Indiana County, bringing the total to 131.
