The weekly Pirates injury report from Senior Director of Sports Medicine Todd Tomczyk includes an update on Bryan Reynolds, who is throwing from 70 feet. He has an injury to the teres major in his shoulder, not a triceps injury as the team previously said. Infielder Jared Triolo will likely require a rehab stint in the minors once his sore back is ready, with the resumption of baseball activities this weekend or early next week. Pitcher Colin Holderman is throwing again after suffering an MCL strain in his right knee. First baseman Spencer Horwitz is hitting and fielding with no restrictions and will travel with the team to Cincinnati, hoping to get outside for the first time and rehab in Florida in a few weeks. Second baseman Nick Gonzalez is bearing partial weight on his fractured ankle.
Perhaps most importantly, pitcher Jared Jones is pain free and exercising his injured right elbow. The team also hopes pitcher Johan Oviedo can begin a throwing program on Saturday.
