State Representative Jim Struzzi announced two of his bills concerning stormwater management have passed the House Local Government Committee.
House Bills 990 and 991 will allow municipalities to plan, design and construct stormwater management systems, direct water surface runoff through municipalities and create a dedicated fund system to pay for the projects without the need to create a separate stormwater management authority. House Bill 990 will provide these abilities to third-class cities, boroughs and incorporated towns, while the other authorize the same for first-class townships. Currently, second-class townships have the ability.
Struzzi said this issue came to his attention through one of the boroughs in his district, and will help the municipalities save money and red tape.
