The Indiana Indians baseball team hammered WPIAL 4A Section 3 rival Derry, 13-1, in five innings at Armstrong High School Saturday afternoon.
Tim Birch and Mark Collinger led the offensive onslaught with three hits each. Birch knocked in four runs and Collinger claimed five RBIs. Carter Putt and Rocco Cosentino each plated three runs.
Indiana scored four runs in the second inning and six more in the fourth. Derry committed seven errors.
Five pitchers – Greg Minnick, Ryan Okopal, Brady Oakes, Putt and Collinger – each hurled one inning for Indiana, with Minnick surrendering the only run. But he also struck out three. The four relievers gave up no hits.
Indiana improved to 8-0 and plays host to Greensburg Salem on Monday.
