The United Way of Indiana County has received a $10,000 grant from a nationwide electricity company.
The donation was made by Vistra Corporation and it’s Pennsylvania electricity brand, Dynergy. This marks the second grant the company has awarded the United Way, as they received a $5000 grant in 2023 for education, health and financial stability programs.
In a statement, 2024 campaign chairman Clinton Smith said the support meant a great deal to the organization and even more to those who were assisted by the organization. He said “Funding like this really does help us build a stronger community and enable us to provide the services that support the lives of individuals, children and families in the region.” Smith also credited State Seantor Joe Pittman for his help in getting a donation from the company, as it was under his campaign in 2018 when Vistra made their first donation.
The donation was part of the final push to bring the 2024 campaign closer to its goal. The campaign finished with a total of $901,656.
