Indiana Borough has secured more grant money to help fix the borough sidewalks.
An additional $480,000 was received from the PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund to continue repairs to the borough’s walks that started back in 2023. The borough used $150,000 in American Rescue Plan funding to fund the kickoff to the Sidewalk Assistance program. Since then, they have replaced over 15,000 square feet of sidewalk and repaired 69 sidewalk pads, making them safer and smoother for residents.
The borough’s Code department is currently assessing sidewalks on the North side of Philadelphia Street as they get ready for phase two. People will be able to apply for funds to repair the sidewalks like in phase one. Those applications will be made available soon.
