Indiana County’s brush fire count is now up to 54 for the year so far after four such calls were reported yesterday.
The first was on Luciousboro Road in Center Township, with Coral-Graceton and Homer City fire departments sent to the scene at 11:10. Initial scanner reports said the fire was electrical in nature and was put out within 15 minutes.
The second call was reported on Brady Road in Armstrong Township, which brought Indiana Fire Association members out at 12:33. The third brought Cherry Tree fire crews out to Pioneer Lake Trail at 2:13 PM. The final brush fire call of the day was at 3:56 at 203 West Indiana Avenue Extension in Avonmore. Saltsburg, Iselin-West Lebanon and Tunnelton fire departments were sent out at the time to assist crews already on-scene.
There was also a vehicle accident reported last night at 8:53 PM on Old Route 56 in Canoe Township. Homer City firefighters, Citizens Ambulance and State Police were dispatched at the time. Details on the crash were have not yet been released.
