PennDOT has announced that drivers license centers across the state, including the one in the Indiana Mall, will be open for the next three Mondays to assist with the RealID process.
The centers will be open April 28th, May 5th and 12th for document scanning and application processing. On May 7th, a federally approved RealID will be needed to enter any military base or federal facility that requires a photo ID. The upgraded identification would also be required for anyone boarding a domestic commercial flight. While not mandatory, over 2.5 million Pennsylvanians have applied to get their license or state-issued photo identification converted to a RealID-compliant card.
When you go to a RealID day, people are reminded to bring proof of identity, proof of social security number, two proofs of a current PA address and proof of any legal name changes. When a customer gets their first REAL ID, they will pay a one-time fee of $30, plus the applicable renewal fee. Those going to the Indiana Drivers License Center will get their new card by mail in 15 business days.
