UPDATE:
A man convicted of first degree murder in a fatal shooting near IUP campus in 2020 was back in Indiana County Court today to try to get his conviction set aside.
During the post-sentence hearing in front of Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco, lawyers for 23-year-old Terrion Gates presented some new evidence in an effort to get the judge to revoke his sentence and have him retried in court. Gates was found guilty of shooting Jadeyn Wright on October 17th of 2020 at the Carriage House apartments. He and three others went there to rob Wright under the guise of a marijuana buy. Police said Gates pulled the trigger to kill Wright. He was ordered to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole, and was also sentenced to six to 12 years in prison for each count of robbery and conspiracy to that crime.
Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi said that the court now has up to 120 days to make a decision.
