Last night, the Steelers did not trade up for a second round draft pick, and in the third round, selected running back Kaleb Johnson of Iowa. Johnson is a 6-1, 220 pound junior and was Big Ten running back of the year and second-team All-American.
He is the highest-drafted running back by the Steelers since Najee Harris in 2021. Harris left the team for the LA Charges in free agency.
Shedeur Sanders is still up for grabs after three rounds of the NFL Draft. The son of NFL great Deion Sanders was expected to be snatched up in the first round Thursday night, but after rounds two and three on Friday, the Colorado quarterback was still available. Rounds four through seven of the NFL Draft will begin at noon today in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
