Omnibus motions hearings are scheduled today for defendants in two criminal cases in Indiana County Court.
21-year-old Mason Jackson, who is from New Brighton in Beaver County, is charged in connection with the robbery and beating of two men in Indiana in October of 2015. 20-year-old Spencer Bacon of Beaver Falls is serving one to three years in state prison for his role in the crime. The other suspect has never been publicly identified.
The incident happened at a residence on South 8th Street in Indiana. The victims, Vincent Lingenfelter and Michael Wilber said the three suspects pistol-whipped them and punched them repeatedly. Lingenfelter knew Spencer Bacon as “Taz” and police determined he was actually Bacon. When they showed the victims social media photos showing Bacon with a group of other people, they also identified Jackson, whose attorney has filed a motion to suppress the identification.
There is also a motions hearing today for 55-year-old Mark Allen Campbell of Homer City, who is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, two counts of DUI controlled substance, and related traffic violations. Campbell’s car crossed the centerline on Route 422 in Pine Township in March of last year, colliding with the car of 68-year-old Shirley Pegg of Rayne Township. Pegg was killed in the crash. Campbell is being held at SCI Houtzdale and has been transferred to SCI Pine Grove in advance of the hearing. His attorney has filed a motion to suppress evidence in the case.
Both of the hearings are scheduled this morning before Judge Thomas Bianco.
