At their meetings Monday night, both the Indiana Area and Purchase Line school boards will take up the issue of the River Valley School District’s notification that it intends to rescind its membership with the Indiana County Technology Center Board. River Valley’s board voted to withdraw from the ICTC compact in May and the founding charter gives the other partner districts one year to either approve or disapprove it. River Valley, which was then known as the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District, was one of the founding members of ICTC in 1980. After the withdrawal notification, some members of River Valley’s board indicated that they would be willing to take the issue to court if necessary.
Monday’s Indiana Area agenda includes motions to approve the separation or disapprove it. Purchase Line’s agenda includes the same motion, worded differently, plus a motion for Purchase Line to “work with attorney Ira Weiss to represent (the district) in partnership with the joint operating committee of (ICTC) in any legal proceeding with River Valley School District.”
There are also a number of policy and personnel motions on both the Indiana and Purchase Line board agendas.
