The White Township Supervisors heard about a possible connector road for the Southtowne Plaza at their meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Communications/PR Specialist Chauncey Ross said in his report that the township is considering using grant funding from the state Department of Community and Economic Development to make a connector road from the rear of Texas Roadhouse to the Walmart auto service center. The funds were a part of $500,000 that was originally awarded for the Acorn Street Extension project, but Ross said interest in that specific project softened and shifted towards improving Oakland Avenue.
Ross said making an alternative road into the plaza is “a no-brainer.”
The township will request approval for a “change of scope,” citing public safety and future economic growth.
In other business, Supervisors approved a bid for the Kennedy King Park restroom project.
The contract went to Norwalk Concrete who submitted the lowest bid of $106,350. Township Manager Chris Anderson said $100,000 of that will be covered from 2024 local share account grant funds while the rest will come from the township’s general account.
He expects construction to start either in the late spring or early summer.
