The Penguins went to Detroit determined to turn it around after Wednesday’s embarrassing effort against the New York Rangers, and they did. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
In addition to the goals by Beauvillier and Hayes, the Penguins got goals from Drew O’Connor, Erik Karlsson, and Marcus Pettersson.
Coach Mike Sullivan said the Penguins pulled together after Wednesday’s loss.
Sullivan was happy with the effort of Blomqvist.
Sullivan believes he may have a connection between Sidney Crosby and Anthony Beauvillier as he continues to search for the right replacement for Jake Guentzel on the top line.
Joel Blomqvist was thrilled to make his NHL debut with his parents watching, having flown in from Finland.
