A Creekside woman accused of locking her children up for fourteen hours a day was arraigned on Wednesday.
Reports say Shannon Dixon and her husband William were accused of locking their three children, ages 4, 6 and 8, in their own rooms supposedly with a portable toilet, few toys and no lights. The couple, who are currently separated, was interviewed by police, and Shannon Dixon said the locks on the door were to keep the kids from falling down the stairs at night. The charges stem from incidents reported in September of 2016.
The children are currently in the custody of Children and Youth Services. Shannon Dixon faces three counts each of Endangering the Welfare of Children and Recklessly Endangering the Welfare of Children. She is free on $50,000 unsecured bond. William Dixon, who now lives with family in Derry, is facing the same charges, but is awaiting his arraignment hearing.
In a separate case, charges were filed against William Dixon in September of 2016 of corruption of minors, aggravated indecent assault of someone under 13 years old, and indecent assault of a person under the age of 13.
