A man reported missing from Armstrong County a few weeks ago was found shot to death on Saturday.
State police initially reported 56-year-old David Kimberly missing on September 28th. His family had said that he packed some of his belongings and left his home in a van five days earlier. On Saturday, police found the van in a wooded area off Reefer Hollow Road south of Rural Valley. Officers also noticed that attempts were made to hide the van.
Investigators spoke with 33-year-old Cody Weiland who later confessed that he shot Kimberly at a home near where the van was found, then moved the body to a remote location in Jefferson County. Troopers were able to find Kimberly’s remains and positively identify him.
Weiland was taken into custody and placed in Armstrong County Jail, where he awaits a preliminary hearing.
