A home off Route 422 East in Pine Township was partially destroyed by a fire on Sunday.
Indiana County 911 dispatched the Pine, Cherryhill, Clymer and Hope Fire Departments to the scene at 7:21 PM. The fire started in the garage area of the building and spread to the house. Cherryhill Fire Chief Jody Rainey said the main problem they had was getting the water supply up the 1000-foot driveway, as they had to use that much large-diameter hose to get the water to fire crews.
Spangler, Nanty Glo, Armagh/East Wheatfield and Coral-Graceton fire crews were called later to assist at the scene, and Commodore fire department was dispatched to standby for Clymer fire department.
A man and a dog living in the home were able to get out without injury. They are being assisted by nearby family members. A firefighter was treated for a non-fire related injury.
The cause remains unknown, but State Police fire marshals are investigating.
