At Monday night’s meeting, the Indiana School Board approved six change orders for the Eisenhower addition/renovation project.
The change orders ranged from a new concrete slab near the existing dumpster slab to stormwater and domestic piping. On a related note, District Superintendent Robert Heinrich said that teachers for Eisenhower are getting ready to transition to the new building once it is ready to go.
One motion that was not acted on was to enter into an agreement with an architect of record for schematic design work for renovations to the science rooms and childcare classrooms at the Senior High. Board member Doug Steve wants to see the motion modified to include installing air conditioning at the high school gym in that scope of work, or to have another architect of record for that project so that questions on the potential project could be answered. He said that the lack of air conditioning has become a problem.
Fellow board member Julia Trimarchi Cuccaro said that she is in favor of the project, but the problem is figuring out how to pay for it.
The issue is expected to come back before the board at a future meeting.
