State representative Jim Struzzi announced that over $200 million will be distributed to counties across the state from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, better known as PENNVEST.
While Indiana County did not receive any funding from PENNVEST this cycle, some projects in surrounding counties did get some low-interest loans and grants. In Armstrong County, the Eastern Armstrong County Municipal Authority received a loan of over $1.1 million to rehabilitate their water treatment and storage tank, and the Municipal Authority of New Kensington received over $3.8 million in loans for a waterline and wastewater treatment plant filter media replacement project in the city of New Ken.
Struzzi, the House Republican Representative on the PENNVEST board, said local governments, facility operators and others are working hard to provide clean drinking water, optimize wastewater systems, replace lead service lines and more, and that the authority is helping the communities achieve much-needed funding for those projects.
The next round of funding will be open for application from now until Oct. 30, ahead of the Jan. 22 voting meeting of the board. To apply, follow the link below.
