One person was taken to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency inside of a car Thursday afternoon.
Indiana Borough Police say they were initially dispatched to the intersection of Oakland Avenue and 11th Street around 2:45 p.m. after they were notified of someone suffering a medical emergency inside their car, but while in transit, they were told the car was headed west and the driver was potentially unresponsive.
They later found the vehicle in a ditch in a wooded area near Oakland Avenue and Grant Street. A preliminary investigation indicated the driver, identified only as a woman, lost control of her Nissan SUV after experiencing the emergency, and it crossed onto a sidewalk and railroad tracks near 1200 Oakland Avenue before coming to rest in a nearby wooded area. Officers add the woman was still suffering the emergency once they arrived.
Citizens’ Ambulance provided on-site care and took the woman to a nearby medical facility. Her name nor her condition are known at this time.
Two additional cars were hit during the incident but no one was injured.
