With the lack of rain over the last few weeks, officials with the Indiana County Emergency Management Agency are requesting that residents refrain from outdoor burning for a while.
This is not a burn ban, but rather a friendly request in hopes of preventing a surge in fire-related calls and allowing first responders to get some rest.
John Pividori with the Indiana County Emergency Management Agency says there are certain requirements for countywide burn bans to be put in place, and Indiana County is nowhere near them.
If you have questions, you are urged to contact your respective municipality, as they will be able to shed more light on best practices and burning ordinances.
