The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources says Indiana County is at high risk of fire danger.
All but four counties in the state are under the “high” designation, with Warren, McKean, Forest and Elk counties falling under moderate fire danger. This stems from the lack of consistent precipitation over the last few weeks.
On the local scene, Ernest Borough has put a burn ban in place and Cherryhill Township firefighters asked residents on Facebook not to burn. That came after they responded to two brush fires Wednesday morning.
White Township has not put a burn ban in place, but township manager Chris Anderson said that issue could come up at tonight’s board of supervisors meeting.
