A man from Illinois will serve four years of probation for torching a car in Rayne Township in 2023.
Indiana county judge Michael Clark sentenced 28-year-old Austin Milanos yesterday in Indiana County Court for a guilty plea of reckless burning or exploding. Milanos along with co-conspirator Matthew Lee Smith of Indiana were accused of stealing a vehicle in Indiana Borough, driving it to some train tracks along Route 110 and dousing the car with gasoline before setting it on fire by throwing lit paper towels on it. The car exploded, injuring Smith, and he was treated at Indiana Regional Medical Center before he was charged.
Charges of receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct were not prosecuted as part of the plea deal. He was also ordered to serve three months to a day less than two years in Indiana County Jail, but he was paroled immediately.
